Step 1
Request access to the client by emailing [email protected] with the subject "VCT access for FVC"
Download the Immersive Terf Software from http://dev.vaforvets.3dicc.com/client/
The current functionality with the Kinect is only for windows, so please test on a Windows 7 machine (the Virtual Collaboration client works for the Mac, but not the interaction software)
Ensure the software is correctly installed by opening it up and logging in with your email address and password which you will receive upon request for account. A pop-up will appear giving a warning "openqwaq.JSI file not found" (this is a result of our integration with JAWS). Simply hit cancel and continue to through the login screen. If logging in brings you to a list of rooms, you have successfully installed the software.

Step 2
A CD should come with the Kinect containing all the drivers and supporting software for it. If yours did not come with a CD, visit http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/ and install the SDK
Ensure that the software is correctly installed and the Kinect is recognized by the machine when plugged in.
Download the Kinect mouse software at http://www.kinemote.net/
Plug in the Kinect and open the Kinemote Light program. Make sure that the "Mouse Mode" checkbox is selected, and click the Mouse Mode tab to review the controls. To start off, turn on "video feedback" on the video feedback tab to enable the user to make sure they're in frame.
Set the Kinect on a stable surface at least 5' away from you, at around stomach-level. Hold your arms out in a cross to allow the Kinect to recognize you, if you're in frame the video feedback will activate and the mouse will start following your right hand. The movement takes a little getting used to, but practice makes perfect!

Step 4
Now that all the supporting software has been installed, it's time to test out the Virtual World with the Kinect and DDR mat! ensure that both devices are plugged in, and their respective programs are open and running in the background (Kinemote Light and ControlMK). With the Virtual World software up and running, login with your username and password to enter the forum list. When the forum list opens up, just hit "enter forum" and you'll enter into the first room. From here on out, it's recommended that you watch the demo videos to see how the Kinect + DDR pad interact with the software.
